I like the format, but I can't get the skins to work properly.
I need some feedback from you folks. Should we stay here or should we move to a place more like the CgiWorld sites.
Your input is greatly appreciated.

Obviously, a whole bunch of folks don't like this format because we've had 52 visitors, but only 13 peeps have signed up as members.
I think it probably has something to do with the email addy requirements.
If anyone (Lynx, nudge, nudge) knows of a better webhost, please post the addy or PM it to me.
TIA

It's probably true that none of us like change; however change has been forced upon us. My only suggestion is that I would like to access The World of X-files without any entrance requirements as before, otherwise I would welcome any effort to keep the community together by whatever site is made available. Hope this is helpful. Blessings to all who are trying, and to those faithful who follow the community around. Ha!...they said 2009 would be a trying year! lol 80)

Its early days. To start with I presumed the board was down, and spent a few days waiting for it to re-appear. When it looked like that was not going to happen it took me a few more days to track it here. I’ve never been able to find another site quite like the uniqueness of X-Files, and for what it’s worth I don’t mind where home is so long as the community stays intact. I don’t see any problem with membership, using E-Ms to CC members of any moves or changes sounds like a good way of keeping it all together.

I'd just like to thank you guys and ladies for all your hard work in keeping TheX going - often under very difficult circumstances. I've been a regular visitor for at least 4 to 5 years now and have seen the board survive quite a few dissasters through the dedication of a relatively small number of folks. The X Files is such a unique and useful board that I'm sure there are many like me who are users but who are not in a position to post, who would be devastated if this constant source of "useful stuff" were to dry up.

The X is now a "community". For people like me who don't partake of the cracked programs, it's about the people, and the "legacy" as someone said. Take care all, A Guy

The fact that ALL CgiWorld, HolyNet, and HolyWar sites no longer exist leads me to believe they won't be coming back EVER. So either we make do with this board or someone offer a suggestion of a better alternative. I've looked at Lycos, Angelfire, Tripod and geocities and rejected each primarily due to ease-of-use issues. Your suggestions are invited and greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone again What happened here? I'll give my 2cents as one of the first poster to Xfiles (too many names to mention) First - Bring back the black background, Really it was associated with TheX from the beginning, pretty sure not many use black, it was kinda unique. Second - I haven't checked everywhere, but where's the Tech forum? (I'm sure I could find it though) Third - Oh! I didn't know you were handing out Moderator status. I'm presently Moderator on a tech forum, somewhere else. If I knew I could apply for Moderator here, I may have accepted (board willing) Mind you, I haven't even signed up yet, so I'll have to check back later for any replies Fourth - I could go on and on The idea of the board was for open linking (not exactly supplying) I've always believed that these external links, were not the responsibility of TheX, but helpful to others to let them know of them. ie legal (but always borderline) This linking should therefore remain Fifth - Glad the globe gif survived, seeming that's the only familiar thing here, including most members Anyway, I gave some input, please move\delete or reply to my post at will. I'll check back in a couple of days. Also I'm glad the original link still worked, as it would have been difficult to find you otherwise, please keep xfiles3 active for a while longer Wish we had a board like this, back in May 05 2001 Kim

I don't know where to begin, so I'll begin at the beginning. Jeez, I'm even starting to sound like you, kim.
Regarding the background, this is the original X-Files background, but when admin left, he disabled it along with all the other graphics and it became black since that was the CGIWorld default.
If you recall, XF2 had no graphics at all, but XF3 restored all the original graphics except for the rotating globe. The original globe was transparent, but I didn't install it because it was a huge file which was eating our bandwidth for breakfast.
Btw, if you want, I can ask one of the admins at DarkRealms to delete your name there so you can join again with a new p/w.
Let me know.
Also, we still allow linking. See our Software and Requests forums.
Once again, Kim, welcome back. Sign up when you have a chance.

Some difficulties after the board moved to another server. There's a thread "If you have login problems" in "General Chat". If your signup e-mail is still working, just click "I forgot my password" when the login fails. You're still member over there.

Just a few thoughts... I think the lack of posting has got people asking why is nobody posting. Logging of IP's is also a concern. The old TheX promted safe surfing?? Here's a couple of quote from slimdogs I came accross... Maybe the host and format of beam.to/slimboards could be the way forwards.
