I need to convert avi files to a differant format so it can be played on a home dvd player whats the best format (mpeg1-mpeg2 "ect') ? thanks.

Do you mean to convert an .avi file, then burn that file to disk for playing on a home DVD player ?
If so, this is the program you need: ConvertXtoDVD
This program will take your .avi (or divx) file & convert it to the proper format & burn the converted file right to your disk.
I use mine so much, I setup my auto-insert to open ConvertXtoDVD whenever I insert a blank DVD disk. It works great.
